Fill in your district’s dates
We do not list district dates. Open your district’s official calendar and copy these in. The two-page version has a fill-in box for them.
- First day and last day of school
- Fall break, winter break and spring break
- Teacher workdays and early-release days
- Testing windows and parent-conference weeks
The monthly pages circle U.S. federal holidays (for example Labor Day on Sep 7, 2026, Thanksgiving on Nov 26, 2026, and Memorial Day on May 31, 2027). Many schools do not close on all of them, so mark your own closures.
Teacher tips
- Cross out non-school days first, then count the days left and write the total in the “School days this month” box.
- Keep a running “School days so far / 180” count in the top corner to see where you are against a 180-day year. Your state may require a different number.
- Mark teacher workdays and early-release days in one color so substitute plans are easy to spot.
- Block out parent-conference weeks and report-card deadlines before the year gets busy.
- Print the two-page version for your desk and the monthly pages for the classroom wall.
Print guide
- Print at 100% (“Actual size”), not “Fit to page”. Page one has a 1 inch / 2.5 cm bar. Measure it once; if it is short or long, your printer scaled the page.
- Choose landscape for the monthly pages. The PDF is already landscape, so most printers pick it up on their own.
- Plain 20 lb / 75 gsm paper works. Use 24 lb / 90 gsm or light card if you write with markers.
- For a binder, punch on the left edge of the landscape page. The monthly layout keeps a 12 mm (0.5 in) margin, so standard punches clear the grid.
- The design is black and white with no fills, so it uses very little ink.
FAQ
- Why does the calendar run August to July?
- Most U.S. schools start in August or September and finish in May or June. Starting in August keeps the whole school year, plus summer planning time, in one set of pages.
- Why doesn't it list my district's dates?
- School calendars differ by district and change during the year. We would rather leave blank boxes than print a wrong date. Copy first day, last day and breaks from your district's official calendar.
- Which holidays are marked?
- U.S. federal holidays only (the observed date when a holiday lands on a weekend). Many schools stay open on some of them, so treat them as a reference and mark your real closures.
- Can I use it for homeschool?
- Yes. Fill in your own start date, breaks and end date, and use the school-days counter to track your year.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Free for home and classroom use, no email or sign-up.
